An homage to the historic building at 122 W. King Street in Hillsborough (then Hillsboro) NC. If you’ve ever wandered down West King Street in downtown Hillsborough and seen that old brick building that looks like it used to be something important — that was the Osbunn Theatre which is believed to have opened in 1920.
The name “Osbunn” is actually a mash-up of the first names of the Forrest brothers, Oswinn and Bunn, who ran it.
During the time of segregation in the south it had two ticket windows and they’re still there as a reminder of our tragic past. The building is currently a wonderful Indian fusion restaurant called Nomad. I highly recommend it.
